Arrequipa, Perú

Perú's second largest city.

Arrequipa is located at 2,328m / 7,638 feet which felt low compared to where we had been for over a week.

Three volcanic cones are visible from the city...Misti, Pichu Pichu and Chachani.

The city experiences the highest level of solar radiation in South America.

The city was founded in 1540CE when King Charles of Spain gave the city a royal decree.

Many of the buildings are made from lime mortar and volcanic ash. This gives the city a distinctive white color.
