Crossing the Andes

Going from Otavalo to Quito and then up, up, UP over the high mountain passes of the Andes (over 13,000 feet).

​

Then you descend.

​

The waters flowing on the west side of the Andes make their way to the Pacific Ocean.

​

The waters flowing on the east side of the Andes make their way to The Atlantic Ocean via the mighty Amazon River!

​

At the base of Antisana Volcano (5,704m / 18,714 ft) is Papallacta Hot Springs.

​

We spent the late afternoon and evening soaking, getting massages and enjoying the Ecuadorean Cloud Forest.
