Pachacamac and Lima

2018

Pachacamac is a pre Inca site located along the Pacific Coast south of Lima.

The area was settled first around 200CE.

The focus of the town and the complex was on the Earth God Pacha Kamaq.

A 1000 year old cemetery containing mummies was discovered near by.

Tuuwatinsuyu (Inca)  invaded the area and used the buildings for a variety of purposes.

The site is believed to have developed into a pilgrimage site and also the site of an oracle.

The museum pieces towards the end are part of a larger display of sexual art from the region and includes many phalluses, representations of sex and of self gratification.
