An hour long flight northwest of Phnom Penh.... we flew over massive wetlands and the huge lake world of Tonlé Sap.  The wetlands and lake host a variety of floating villages. Siem Reap is a much nicer town than Phnom Penh and flows at a slower pace. Heritage sites abound in this region including Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. This is also the home of Apsara Dance and the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire with a strong Indian influence. The area was once Hindu but now mostly Buddhist.
